Solstice [Tanzania]

Solstice [Tanzania]

Solstice // Tanzania Peaberry

Vibrant • Stone Fruit • Elegant

The history of coffee in Tanzania is a story of resilience, deeply intertwined with the volcanic soils of East Africa. Originally introduced to the region by the Haya tribe as a ceremonial crop long before European colonization, coffee production truly flourished in the early 20th century along the fertile slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. It was here that local smallholder cooperatives banded together, pioneering a tradition of meticulous wet-processing that put Tanzanian coffee on the global specialty map.

Solstice honors this rich heritage by selecting rare, dense peaberry lots from the Kilimanjaro region. While standard coffee cherries develop two flat beans, a small percentage produce just one round, undivided seed. This unique geometry allows the bean to roast with exceptional uniformity, concentrating the sugars and unlocking a sparkling cup quality.

Grown at extreme altitudes between 1,300 and 1,800 meters, these Bourbon and Kent varieties are slow-ripened to perfection. We masterfully light-roast Solstice to preserve its brilliant origin character. In the cup, look for a radiant, honeyed sweetness defined by juicy nectarine and crisp red currant, settling into a sophisticated, clean black tea finish. It is a stunning, articulate tribute to one of the world's most historic coffee-growing terroirs—ideal for your morning pour-over or immersion brew.
